UF visits with Rivals100 linebacker
Since decommitting from Auburn earlier this week, the recruiting process of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett linebacker Trey Johnson has hit overdrive, with many schools inquiring about his services according to his coach Todd Wofford.
"Schools like Michigan, Ole Miss, and Tennessee have called trying to see where Trey is right now," commented Wofford.
Florida linebacker coach D.J. Durkin was at the high school on Thursday to visit with the four-star rated prospect.
"He said Coach Durkin was just explaining to him what Florida is all about and how they operate," explained Wofford. "They talked about little bit about getting him back on campus and just how excited they are to have him make another trip."
The Gators weren't alone in stopping by to visit with the 6-foot1, 222-pound Peach State product. Wofford said there have been a few others to stop by.
"Auburn also came by today [Thursday], they were just telling Trey that no matter if [Gene] Chizik is there or not they are still Auburn and still will always be Auburn. USC has also stopped by to see him and talk with him."
Coach Wofford also has noted since his prized linebacker decided to back off his long time commitment to Auburn there are still no clear cut leaders.
"I mean Trey still likes Auburn don't get me wrong, but right now I think he is also really taking a look at Florida, Ohio State, and USC. Those are the schools that he has built really close relationships with and coaching staffs that he knows best. The schools that are calling to check on him I just tell them that he is looking more at schools that he already is close with."
The Gators will have Johnson on campus for an official visit on December 14th.
