Lassiter High School's head football coach Chip Lindsey is leaving the school to take a job as the quarterbacks coach at Troy University. This past season, Lindsey coached Lassiter to an undefeated record, a region championship, the third round of the playoffs, and its best season ever.

Both Drew Champlin of the Dothan Eagle and Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution are reporting that Lindsey is headed to the South Alabama school.
"I think the familiarity with Troy and what they do on offense, plus my familiarity with the staff - Kenny Edenfield, Shayne Wasden and John Schlarman - made it all come together," Lindsey told Champlin and the Dothan Eagle. "It's definitely a thrill to move to the college game and it's been a goal of mine since I got into coaching."
Lindsey has experience running Troy's spread offense as he has run the same offense at Lassiter and at Hoover (AL) before that. Last season, Lindsey's offense allowed UGA quarterback commit Hutson Mason to shred defenses and shatter several Georgia passing records.
There are currently two Georgia high school players committed Troy's 2010 recruiting class: speedy Stephenson athlete Nathan Benford and three-star Lowndes athlete Khary Franklin.
Lindsey is moving on after coaching only two seasons at the Marietta school. In the two years prior to Lindsey's arrival at Lassiter, the Trojans had a combine 6-14 record. Once Lindsey arrived, the Trojans went 21-4.
This will be Lindsey's first college coaching job.
