Miller Grove safety talks two favorites

Lithonia (Ga.) Miller Grove High School safety Michael White is seeing increasing interest from schools from various areas of the country. No offers are in yet for the standout 6'0, 180-pound safety but White is talking to a few schools and talked with GaVarsity.com about those schools and much more.
"The schools that I'm in contact with that I'm interested in would be Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Indiana, Army, and Navy," he revealed. "Those are the top couple of choices right now."

Two of the schools have separated themselves early on.
"I would lean more towards Rutgers and Indiana."
What stands out about the schools from the Big East and Big 10 conference?
"One, they both have good academic programs and their athletic graduation rate is very high. I like that and I like that they both have beautiful campuses and they're both nice places that I'd like to play in."
White will be camping at the two schools this summer and might squeeze in a couple of more camps.
"I'm going to attend Rutgers' camp [and] go to Indiana. I'm going to try to do Vanderbilt and go to a couple other ones—North Carolina maybe."
White grew up a fan of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and talked about whether the Jackets would have a good chance at his signature if they recruited him.
"Yes sir they would because right now it's still early and any and everybody has a chance to recruit me."
He talked about the factors will be important in his decision.
"I'm looking to see how I would fit into their defensive or offensive programs, see how I would fit into their program, and see what role I would play—get that major, key role and be the force of someone's program eventually; and just see what school I have the best bond with, who I click with the most as far as coaching staff and all the players," White detailed.
What does White bring to the table from his safety position?
"Well, for me, I never give up on a play," he stated. "It's a couple of times on my highlight film where you see the guy from the other team has broken the defense down and made a long run and I'll come in and chase him down and either create a fumble or just a big stop."
"It's times coming from the safety spot where I take on lead blocks, shed lead blocks and still make the tackle in traffic. [I'm] just real disciplined, aggressive but smart."
Has White thought about when he would like to make a decision?
"Not really," he admitted. "Me knowing me, I'll probably have my decision nailed down before signing day or maybe right before Christmas."
