Top Players Remain Uncommitted

With signing day just a month away, there are still three of the Peach state's top ten prospects uncommitted and they happen to be the top three in the state. Here's a look at my thoughts as we head down the home stretch.

Demetris Robertson, Athlete, Savannah Christian School

Robertson is the top rated "athlete" prospect in the Rivals.com rankings and is 8th overall in the Rivals100. The 6-0, 180lbs athlete was once committed to Alabama and though the Crimson Tide is still thought to be the favorite, he remains "open" publicly. That, however, could change as he has a good relationship with former Alabama DC Kirby Smart and Smart's landing of the UGA job puts the Bulldogs in major contention for this athlete's services. Outside of Alabama and Georgia, look for Notre Dame and Ohio State to be in the mix.

Mecole Hardman Jr., Ath, Elbert County

Hardman, a Rivals.com five star, is GAVarsity.com's second ranked prospect and his future is a mystery. It was no secret that the strength of Hardman's interest in UGA was his relationship with former DC Jeremy Pruitt, who is at Alabama now. Rumors are that Hardman will take a visit to Alabama. The family's close proximity to Athens is felt to lend strength to Hardman staying close to home, but he states his family has told him it is his decision to make. While others are in the mix, look for Georgia and Alabama to be the top two for Hardman.

Derrick Brown, DL, Lanier

Brown has been thought to be a favorite to Georgia, though he has not publicly declared favorites. There were thoughts that he may possibly waver after the departure of Mark Richt. In fact, he visited Mississippi State, a school he has family ties to, the week of Richt's release. It is thought that Mississippi State and Tennessee each have a shot at Brown but the strong feeling is that the Bulldogs will be able to hold onto Brown with a defensive minded Kirby Smart taking the reigns at UGA. Brown is the No. 3 rated Defensive Tackle in the Rivals.com rankings and No. 25 overall in the Rival100.
